How do I join?
Joining SMU Ballroom is very simple - you show up, dance, and enjoy yourself. For more information check our Membership page. Annual membership dues are extremely cheap and would cover one or less class at a dance studio.

Why should I join?
Check out our Why Ballroom page.

What is the format of the class?
Classes run two hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. They cover the Standard, Latin, and Club/Social styles of ballroom dance respectively. Dances change over the course of the semester to give you a chance to learn a variety of dances. In between the two hours there is typically a break, during which announcements are made and you can get a drink of water. Classes have a casual atmosphere great for beginners to keep up with other members who have had prior dance experience.

Do I need to have a partner or previous dance experience to attend class?
The answer is no! If you want to come with a partner that is perfectly fine, but we usually rotate partners throughout class to let the guys practice leading and the girls practice following different people.

What should I wear / bring to class?
Something comfortable that doesn't restrict your movement. Tennis shoes and flip flops are not recommended. If you don't have dance shoes, socks are preferable. A water bottle is always a good idea, and bring your SMU ID, if you have one, for free admission into Dedman Center.
